Free Kick Counter: Count Baby Kicks Online
A free online kick counter: tap once per movement and see how long ten take. Counts stay in your browser. If movements reduce, call your midwife now.
Is this kick counter free? Where are my counts kept?
Yes, it's free and there's no account. Your counts are kept only in this browser, on this device — they're never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser's data, or using a private window, removes them.
How many kicks should I feel?
There's no single number that applies to every baby. The NHS and RCOG say there's no set number of movements you should feel, and that what matters is your baby's own pattern. Timing how long ten movements take is another approach: the rule of ten movements within two hours has been the definition recommended by ACOG when counting is done. Whichever you follow, if movements slow down or change, contact your midwife, doctor or maternity unit straight away.
When should I start counting kicks?
Count the Kicks advises starting at 28 weeks, or at 26 weeks if you're high-risk or expecting twins or more. UK guidance doesn't ask you to count, but to be aware of your baby's pattern throughout pregnancy. If you're unsure, ask at your next appointment.
What if a count takes longer than usual?
If you notice fewer movements than usual, or a change in your baby's pattern, contact your midwife, doctor or maternity unit now. Do not wait until tomorrow, and do not use this counter or any app to decide. You don't need to finish a count before you call.
What counts as a kick?
Kicks, rolls, swishes, jabs and stretches all count as one movement each. Hiccups — small rhythmic pulses that repeat for a while — don't count. If you're not sure whether something was a movement, count it.
What is "your usual range"?
After five counts, the counter shows the range your recent times fall into — built only from your own counts, never from averages of other pregnancies. It's context, not a verdict: a time outside it isn't a result, and if something feels off you should call regardless of the numbers.
What does the Bump Kicks app add?
The same one-tap count, plus a running count on your Lock Screen and in your notifications, a gentle daily reminder, notes on each count, four weeks of your own times, and a PDF of your history to bring to appointments. It's free on iPhone and Android, with no account.
